The Toronto Maple Leafs have made it known that they plan to make more moves and apparently Frederik Andersen is on the trade block.

Over the past few days, we have gone from wondering what moves the Toronto Maple Leafs might make to wondering which player will be out the door next.

It all started with the Kasperi Kapanen trade to the Pittsburgh Penguins which was surprising but not shocking as well. This has now prompted speculation and more players being added to the rumour mill including Frederik Andersen.

Seeing the Leafs potentially dangling their starting goaltender might seem like a risky proposition considering how consistent Andersen has performed during the regular season. At the same time, with another disappointing first-round exit, any and all changes to get the team over the hump have to be considered.

What can’t be ignored obviously is that if the Leafs decided to move Andersen, there has to be suitable replacement brought in. This is something the Leafs are probably considering and there will be different options depending on how they plan to fill the void.

There will be the mention of goaltenders like Robin Lehner, Jacob Markstrom and Braden Holtby but all three would present similar challenges as they would probably command a hefty contract. Considering Andersen makes $5 million and the Leafs salary cap situation, it would be unlikely to expect one of these marquee goalies being brought in.

With that being said, here are other options the team can consider.
