2) Fred VanVleet and Kyle Lowry were relentless and refused to lose.

Fred VanVleet took over in the third quarter, with the team’s offence looking stagnant.  He was held scoreless in the first quarter, chipped in eight in the second and then went off for 14 points in the third.

For the game, VanVleet had 24 points, 10 assists and five rebounds.  He wasn’t exceptionally efficient, but seemed to make buckets when the team needed him to.

Kyle Lowry drove the ball relentlessly and abused poor Joe Harris, who was utterly overmatched trying to guard him.  He has repeatedly been the engine for this Raptors team and once more put the team on his back at times.

Lowry finished the game with 21 points on 7-14 shooting.  He added nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and a blocked shot to that.
