The Toronto Raptors showed no doubt about their status as defending champions as they took care of business in their Game 1 win over the Brooklyn Nets.

We all know about the Toronto Raptors‘ history heading into the opening game of the playoffs but against the Brooklyn Nets, this group showed once again that they are more focused and determined than ever before.

The Raptors looked unstoppable in the first quarter putting up 37 points and limited Brooklyn to 20. Things started to open up a bit in the second quarter as the Nets had 31 points but Toronto kept their foot on the gas with 36 points.

After a nervous start to the second half, the Raptors made sure to remain composed and put an end to the Nets run. While you never want to make things hard on yourselves, the Raptors could’ve made lives easier on themselves but seeing them brush off a rough third quarter shows how strong the mental will of this team is.

What this game did was show that the Raptors’ 7-1 record during the restart was no fluke and they might be a more collective unit than last season.
