The Toronto Maple Leafs needed a rebound performance in Game 2 and got exactly that but Jake Muzzin’s injury is the focus going forward.

Heading into Game 2, you knew the Toronto Maple Leafs were going to find a way to overcome some of the issues that led to a shutout loss in their opener against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

There was a noticeable difference right off the start as the Leafs were way more engaged but once again, found it tough to get the puck past Joonas Korpisalo. It wasn’t until late in the second period that Auston Matthews broke through most likely sending Leafs Nation in a frenzy at home but also providing a sense of relief.

After John Tavares found a way to break behind an overly aggressive Blue Jackets to provide some breathing room, the confidence levels were through the roof. That was until an unfortunate injury late in the third period.

As Columbus tried to make one more push on the power play, Jake Muzzin was trying his best to make sure his team came away with the win. Unfortunately, the defenceman left the game after his head bounced off Oliver Bjorkstrand behind the net forcing the stretcher to come out.

Both teams were able to regroup after a lengthy delay but that didn’t take away from the concern from the play and there will be a lot of eyes on the first available update after Muzzin was taken to the hospital.

Here are some takeaways from the game and some things to watch going forward.
