Marner and Tavares struggle to produce

The Maple Leafs are investing a lot of money in their core especially Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and John Tavares.

In Game 1, Matthews had six shots on goal while Tavares had two and Marner had nothing. Simply put, Matthews did he best to generate offence despite having Seth Jones trailing him all night while Marner and Tavares struggled to get anything going.

That’s unacceptable considering how much the Leafs are investing in both to be big-time contributors on the ice. Not only that but with the game still in reach, the Leafs failed to record a shot in the final six minutes.

Either the Leafs need to rethink their approach of Sheldon Keefe has to find a way for his highly paid players to step up their game.
