The Toronto Maple Leafs lost Game 1 of their Stanley Cup qualifier against the Columbus Blue Jackets as their offence failed to show up.

There was a familiar feeling after the Toronto Maple Leafs dropped Game 1 of their Stanley Cup qualifier against the Columbus Blue Jackets and the reaction to the loss was predictable.

It was frustrating to watch the Leafs struggle to break free from the Blue Jackets because you knew that was going to be the gameplan going into this game. Nothing Columbus did was unexpected and if anything it showed that Toronto wasn’t prepared for it because they struggled to adjust.

Nick Robertson was close to scoring in his NHL debut and was engaged in his pursuit for the puck, unfortunately, there wasn’t much being done by the Leafs so there weren’t many positives to find. Even James Reeve has more explained why the team’s offensive depth had to be a big part of their success and hopefully, the team got the message.
