Toronto FC: Breaking down ‘MLS is Back’ tournament opponents
Toronto FC vs. New England Revolution
After taking over for Brad Friedel in mid-May of last season, former USMNT boss Bruce Arena turned around the New England Revolution. He led them to a 9-6-9 record en route to their first playoff berth since 2015.
This year got off to a less promising start. Still winless this season after a 2-1 loss to Montreal and a 1-1 draw with Chicago, the Revs are going in search of a fresh start in Orlando.

Possibly the most interesting player to watch out for within the New England side will be designated player Adam Buksa. The Polish-born striker just completed a transfer from Pogon Szczecin in the offseason, and scored the Revs’ lone goal against Chicago in his home debut.
A glowing article on the Polish National Team’s website anoints Buksa a “universal soldier,” and quite frankly I have no clue what that means. However, it can really only be seen as a good thing for New Englanders.
Another Rev to keep an eye on is Canadian Tajon Buchanan. At just 21-years-old, the Brampton, Ontario native got involved in both of New England’s league matches before the stoppage, logging eight minutes and a shot against Montreal, and 10 minutes and another shot versus Chicago.
Could the young forward have something in store for his hometown club? We’ll find out bright and early at 9 a.m. EST on July 21.
