Toronto Raptors: Top moments of the 2019-2020 regular season 10-6
6. Raptors record largest victory in franchise history
As will be proven by the number one entry on this list, a combination of the Toronto Raptors and a weird tip-off time is always a sight to see. Case in point, their 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening tilt on Feb. 23, when the Raptors straight up mugged the Indiana Pacers.
Five minutes in, the game already had a baseball score, 15-1 in favour of the Raptors. With 1:49 left in the second quarter, and the score 55-27, the Raptors’ win probability hit 99 per cent. It would not dip below that threshold again.
The Raptors won 127-81, setting the new franchise record for margin of victory at 46 points. But what makes this trouncing even more unfathomable is how spread out the scoring was. No single Raptor had more than 21 points, as a whopping six players put up double figures.
The beatdown also allowed coach Nick Nurse to empty his bench, as Stanley Johnson, Oshae Brissett and Paul Watson all saw the floor. Matt Thomas, Chris Boucher and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson got big minutes as well, dropping 17, nine and 12, respectively.
Yes, I know it’s a little unfair to pick on the Pacers when they are without Victor Oladipo, but Indiana was (and still are) a playoff team. The Raptors made them look like the Washington Generals.
