The Toronto Maple Leafs will aim to improve their blue line this off-season and here are some players they can look at depending on the salary cap.

It’s no secret the Toronto Maple Leafs defence has been a popular topic of conversation the past few seasons.

When it comes to building the core parts of the roster, the Leafs have relied on their drafting and development. Other than John Tavares, free agency hasn’t provided them with the solutions they have been looking for and they haven’t had that much luck on the trade market either.

An obvious issue when it comes to making any plans for this off-season is trying to figure out what the salary cap situation will look like. Not only that but the Leafs will have a tough time trying to make a trade unless they can move out some salary.

If the team can find a way to move off some salary then there are some possibilities they can consider when free agency opens. This year’s class doesn’t have as much to offer in terms of quantity, but there are some intriguing options that should be considered.

We take a look at five that might make sense as a fit and whether the Leafs have the space to get a deal done?
