Jake Fromm

The Bills have their franchise quarterback but getting Fromm in the fifth round seemed like a no-brainer decision.

Sure the team has Matt Barkley under contract but you can never be too careful when it comes to addressing some strong depth behind center. It also ensures that the team has a steady option down the road in case of injury.

It also helps that the New England Patriots didn’t get the chance to take Fromm who could have fallen to him in the late rounds. At the same time, if the Patriots were high on him, they probably would have grabbed him in the fourth round.

Barkley is also only signed for only one more season so the Bills likely want to make sure they don’t have to spend a lot of assets adding a quarterback down the road. He is also going to need to improve on his arm strength and accuracy if he wants to succeed in the NFL but Fromm likely won’t be a factor until the 2021 season.
