Seattle Sounders at TFC

BMO Field – July 18

In all of MLS, few teams have such a relationship as Seattle and Toronto. Combatants in the MLS Cup Final thrice, their rivalry spans both geographic and conference boundaries. Currently, at least in finals, Seattle has the edge at 2-1. After downing an LAFC team that looked like world-beaters last season, the Sounders used their home field advantage to beat the Reds in 2019’s iteration of MLS Cup, just as Toronto did when they bested Seattle in 2017. Their first meeting since the Sounders’ 3-1 beatdown of the Reds will take place north of the border, but regular season supremacy isn’t enough. Could we be treated to a quadrilogy (yes I had to look that word up) of MLS Cup matches between these two storied sides? Both look like playoff teams, and with the unpredictability of the one-game, winner-take-all playoff system, you just never know.
