Toronto Maple Leafs: 3 trades Kyle Dubas should look to make
The Toronto Maple Leafs still sit outside of the playoffs and will need to add some reinforcements ahead of the NHL trade deadline.
Usually, you don’t want to see a team make a trade based on what happens in one game but Monday’s loss to the Florida Panthers certainly brought upon a lot of trade deadline articles surrounding the Toronto Maple Leafs.
It’s only fair considering most were probably scheduled for a day where the Leafs weren’t playing including this one by James Mirtle and Jonas Siegel for the Athletic and Luke Fox’s latest story for Sportsnet.
Both articles bring up interesting ideas for what Kyle Dubas could be looking for on the trade market and it’s been made known that he is making calls especially for defencemen. On top of that, the team’s goaltending situation is still shaky and it’s now being magnified more so by Frederik Andersen‘s neck injury.
For now, the Leafs consider Andersen to be day-to-day but if he’s sidelined past this weekend, there is going to be some unease. Considering they are one point back of Florida for third in the Atlantic Division who has a game in hand, and two points out of the final Wild Card spot they can’t really afford to let things slip away.
Don’t expect a trade to happen right away considering the team plays on the road against the New York Rangers which will obviously have a lot of people wondering if either team comes together to make a deal.
We have roughly three weeks left until the trade deadline so here are some trades the team could realistically make.
