Ricky Foley

The CFL’s answer to iconic Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, Ricky Foley served as the Argos’ hypeman and a bruising ‘backer in his own right for five seasons, over two different stints.

A native Ontarian who played his college ball at York University, Foley was the quarterback of the Argos’ defence for their 2012 Grey Cup triumph. A model of durability, Foley completed the 18 game slog of a schedule three out of five seasons with the double blue.

He last active in the league in 2017 with the BC Lions, Foley, 37, is still listed as a free agent. Foley was recently in the news for defending the CFL’s Canadian content on Twitter, with regards to talks that the league was considering cutting down the mandated number of Canadians that had to be present on the field at once.

When Duron Carter clapped back in support of American players, Foley took him to task, at one point telling the young receiver to “just focus on not getting cut again & what’s in your backpack at the airport.” Yeesh.
