Brenden Dillon

Dillon’s name came up during the Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada when Friedman mentioned that the San Jose Sharks were looking to move off from their unrestricted free agents.

The Leafs are fairly familiar with the 29-year-old after he laid a high hit on Auston Matthews when the two teams met in October back in Toronto. This might not make him a desired target for fans but ask whether you would take him Ceci, or Martin Marincin as an option on the bottom pairing.

Adding him would also keep the Leafs from having to put Sandin or even Timothy Liljegren in a position they might not be ready for unless the Leafs need to call one of them up.

What would make Dillon appealing is the fact that he would not cost the Leafs a lot in terms of assets that they would have to give up considering the Sharks aren’t going for a full teardown. They will, however, have to recoup some value but considering how Dillon has the size, experience and is a capable puck mover.
