Buffalo Bills: 4 potential options to tackle their wide receiver problem
Sniff out who’s going to blow it up, and make a deal
While the class of free-agent wide receivers is somewhat deep, making a trade of some sort is how you go about getting exactly who you want. Among the top pass catchers in the game today, plenty of them play for teams that were not competitive this season, and don’t seem to have any plans on being competitive in the near future.
Does Keenan Allen want a change of scenery if Philip Rivers either retires or leaves Los Angeles? Has Kenny Golladay grown tired of stagnation in Detroit? Could Allen Robinson II be coaxed out of Chicago? But, there’s an elephant in the room, and he’s wearing a pretty expensive watch.
Now that Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry have reunited, it’s hard to see them splitting up again. Just how bad things have gotten in Cleveland is still somewhat under wraps, but if the new coach Browns management brings in isn’t to the taste of the LSU two, then could a blockbuster deal be made to bring the two of them to Buffalo?
Not many teams have the cap space to pull this off, but the Bills, to some extent, have money to burn. Would this be smart in the long run? Probably not. Will this ever happen? Probably not.
The pressure of trying to appease Beckham Jr. and Landry proved too much for Baker Mayfield, and to impose that on Josh Allen might railroad his growth forever. But, if the Bills want top-class receivers, it doesn’t get much more tip-top than OBJ and Juice.
