2. Look within the AFC East

Very quietly, the New York Jets finished the season 6-2. A full season of Sam Darnold and Le’Veon Bell could spell trouble for the Bills in the AFC East next season, so why not make life a little harder on the J-E-T-S and a little easier on your S-E-L-F?

Top targets Robby Anderson and Demaryius Thomas are both free agents going into next season, and to nab either one of these pass catchers from a divisional rival could pay dividends down the road. How likely is it that Anderson will walk?

Oh, he’s gonna. Anderson told ESPN’s Rich Cimini, among others, that it “wouldn’t really be logical” to re-sign with the Jets. Anderson is tall and long, which could really help out the Bills, considering that Josh Allen’s top two targets, John Brown and Cole Beasley, stand just 5’11 and 5’8 respectively.

Demaryius Thomas would also represent an upgrade in the size category, as the 6’3, 225lb receiver hasn’t truly found a home since leaving Denver. He had a down year this season in terms of stats, but Thomas posted a 1,000-yard season as recently as 2016, and that was with Trevor Siemian at the helm.

The scenario with the Jets is similar to the Cowboys. If Anderson comes your way, then go for it. His youth and speed bring new elements to the Bills roster. But, if Thomas is there for the taking on a short contract (he is 32 years old), pull the trigger. Who says he can’t rekindle some of that Mile High magic in Buffalo?
