Frederik Andersen gets 40-plus wins

In his time with the Leafs, Andersen has been the workhorse on the team when you consider the number of games he’s had to play and the number of shots he’s had to face.

After setting a new franchise record for wins in a season with 38 back in the 2017-18 season, there’s no reason why he can’t reach 40 if he gets off to a strong start this season. We know the Leafs want to dial back on the soon-to-be 30-year-old netminder but there’s no reason why 40 can’t be an achievable goal.

The Leafs lost seven games in overtime/shootout so that’s one way he can potentially improve his win/loss total. It also helps to not lose games against the Ottawa Senators, Arizona Coyotes considering those are teams the Leafs should beat.

There’s no reason why the Leafs shouldn’t be confident in Andersen’s ability to reach 40 wins even if they try to manage his workload. It shouldn’t matter how much Andersen plays in the regular season as long as he is rested heading into the playoffs.

At the same time getting 40 wins will also put Andersen in the conversation for the Vezina Trophy but with Andrei Vasilevskiy playing lights out in Tampa Bay last year, it would be too bold to think Andersen can surpass the young netminder.
