2. Bo’s debut

Blue Jays at Kansas City Royals – July 29, 2019

By now, you can probably guess what moment will be taking the top spot on this list. And while Bo’s debut didn’t carry the certain caché of another rookie Blue Jay debut this season, it certainly delivered big on results.

Striding into the batter’s box for the first time, Bo Bichette looked strangely calm. Looking back on it now, he was every bit the confident and driven hitter that he is today. He slapped a ball to left that deflected off of the glove of Hunter Dozier and into left field, a perfect way to start a career.

Over the span of the next two months, Bichette would proceed to light up the bigs, giving even more credence to the “let the kids play” moniker that was harped on throughout the season. He also set a handful of records during his first few weeks in the big leagues, none more impressive than his mark of nine straight games with a double, a league record.

The fact that he accomplished this feat – which eluded literally every single MLB player before him – in his first 10 games makes the mark that much more impressive. The Blue Jays beat the Royals on the day, 7-3, and ended up sweeping the series in Kansas City.

Bichette’s season ended prematurely with a concussion, but we’ve seen enough of Bo to say that he’s going to be a cornerstone piece of this Blue Jays lineup for a long time to come.
