How much time does Mitch Marner miss?

If you are getting annoyed with the talk about Marner and did not enjoy how William Nylander‘s negotiations played out, you will have to hope for a miracle to play out.

There has been no formal update from the team or Marner’s camp to suggest the stalemate is going to end and Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said as much in his latest 31 Thoughts column.

Give Friedman credit, he has tried to remain unbiased with his reports because he does not want to give the impression of who is holding up negotiations. With Zach Werenski getting a three-year deal and Timo Meier signing a four-year extension, the pressure is now on Dubas to try and find one that makes sense for the team.

Unfortunately, this could delay Marner’s arrival for training camp and you know the team does not want to have another important forward to miss time. So is this a tactic Darren Ferris is trying to use as a way to get Dubas to give in?

Hopefully, it isn’t considering this really does more harm to Marner because his reputation has taken a bit of a hit and it won’t get any better if he makes it known he is willing to sit out.

Dubas was smart to make it known he wasn’t concerned about Marner going to skate in Zurich and he should encourage it because if Marner really wants to be a Leaf for a long time, he should want to be camp.
