5. Frederik Andersen

Andersen was arguably the Leafs best player in the playoffs and had a pretty solid regular season too. He started in 60 games and had 36 wins, a 2.77 GAA, .917 save percentage, and one shutout.

The one shutout might be surprising but obviously, that’s a tough stat to predict, and one that doesn’t happen often enough to really differentiate between choosing a goalie. Since coming to Toronto Andersen has been as consistent and predictable as can be.

These are his stats for the last 3 seasons:

Games Played: 66, 66, 60

Wins: 33, 38, 36

GAA: 2.67, 2.81, 2.77

Save Percentage: .918, .918, .917

Shutouts: 4, 5, 1

He should easily be a top 10 goalie again this season and might even challenge for a top 5 spot.

4. Morgan Rielly

Last season Morgan Rielly experienced the best season of his NHL career to date, reaching new highs in almost every offensive category you can think of.

He became the first Leafs defenceman to score 20 goals in a season since Al Iafrate did it back during the 1989-90 season finishing off with 72 points in 82 games.

The only thing that didn’t increase was his powerplay points. It’s hard to imagine any type of improvement this season just because of how ridiculous his numbers were (and the addition of Tyson Barrie) but he’ll still probably be one of the first five defencemen off the board on draft day. Expect him to go somewhere in the third-fourth round.
