10. Jake Muzzin

We’ll start off our rankings with a player who came over to the Leafs during last season in a trade. Muzzin likely won’t get talked about as much as Morgan Rielly and Tyson Barrie this season when it comes to Leafs defenders, but that doesn’t mean he’s any less important.

He racked up 37 points in 80 games last season between the Kings and the Leafs and finished with a solid +21 rating. He’ll likely barely see the powerplay this season but he contributes in other areas as well.

The 30-year-old had 172 hits in 2018-2019 so if your league counts hits as a category, he might be a prime target considering there aren’t many Leafs who dish out a lot of hits. He also had 134 blocks which is a bonus considering his offensive production as well.

He’s a free agent at the end of this season so that might even be some extra motivation for him to go out and have a career year.
