Crucial stretch against main rivals

Next up is a trip to Columbus to battle for the Trillium Cup, a trophy that is given out annually to the winner of the Toronto-Columbus fixtures on aggregate. Oddly enough, this is the first meeting of the year between the two sides, so no precedence in 2019 has been set.

However, with the Crew well back in the standings this season, the Reds have to have their eyes set on returning the trophy to Toronto this season. Winning on the road is never easy, but Columbus has the third-worst goal differential (-12) in the league. TFC’s potent attack has a good shot at filling the net.

Meaningless prediction: 2-0 Toronto FC.

After Columbus, TFC comes home to BMO Field to face their 401 Derby foes, Montreal Impact. The Impact currently sit on 33 points and are holding down the sixth spot in the standings, albeit with a paltry -10 goal differential (to put that in perspective, the team in fifth, New York City FC, has a +10 goal differential). A true six pointer, this iteration of the derby should be as chippy as it gets, as both teams are jockeying for position in a log-jammed Eastern Conference.

Meaningless prediction: 1-1 Draw.
