Let’s just rip off the band-aid. Seeing Stroman pitching in the Big Apple would probably make Blue Jays fans want to hit their heads against a wall but you bet the Medford, NY., native would love it.

Back at the end of June Stroman spoke to reporters about the possibility of playing in New York and it’s hard to ignore how much he would welcome the challenge of playing in a tough market.

"“New York is like the mecca of the world, right?” Stroman told Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun. “I love excitement. I love bright lights. I love competition. “I’m built for (Yankee Stadium). Anybody can say whatever, but I’m built for the bright lights and the moment. I’m not scared of it. I’ll never be. I love it.”"

It seems like it would be a match made in heaven considering Stroman’s personality and New York regaining their crown as the top team in the AL East. What better way to let the rest of the league know you’re all in then to trade for a starter like Stroman?

The Blue Jays have already engaged in trade talks with the Yankees in the past after the Bronx Bombers acquired J.A. Happ at the deadline in exchange for Brandon Drury and Billy McKinney.

This time around, the Blue Jays will look to get something more substantial in return for Stroman and there’s no reason why they shouldn’t and you can bet GM Ross Atkins will look for more than just one piece.

Toronto has made it a point to get multiple assets in return for a player and you have to think Clint Frazier would be a target. The outfielder has been stuck in a logjam so it would only make sense that the Yankees try to move him.

You wonder though if the Blue Jays try to prioritize pitching in return for Stroman which is why Roansy Contreras would be the ideal trade target. He is one of the top prospects in the Yankees system and he’s only 19 so he has lots of room to grow.

At the same time, New York has an abundance of pitching options in their system so Toronto would be wise to make that a priority.
