The Toronto Maple Leafs have a new top prospect, as well as some up and coming players in their system as the 2018-19 regular season campaign comes to an end.

It’s been a good year in the Toronto Maple Leafs‘ system. Both the Marlies and Growlers have made the playoffs, with young talent helping both teams.

Despite previous years, the cupboard is a little more barren than usual. First, it was Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander who all made the jump to the NHL at the same time. This season, Kasperi Kapanen, Andreas Johnsson, Trevor Moore, and Frederik Gauthier all made the jump to the Maple Leafs.

Despite that, there are still a slew of exciting individuals still in the system. Over the last few years, Kyle Dubas has helped bring in some solid prospects. He has gone to a less traditional approach, picking up the best players available with every pick, regardless of age or measurables.

In the 2018 draft, Dubas went back to his roots in Sault Ste. Marie in order to nab a pair of promising defenders, one of which has become the team’s top prospect following an incredible rookie campaign in the AHL.

There’s a lot to look forward to, and the Buds will also be bringing in a new crop of names in the 2019 NHL Draft.

Today, we’re focusing on those that are already in the organization, however. With that, let’s take a look at how the organization’s top names fared during the 2018-19 season.
