6) Jays win first AL East title

For most, 1985 is when the glory years started for the Blue Jays, beginning a run of consistent success which culminated in 1993. They won their first ever division title, to clinch a spot in the postseason.

Coming in their ninth year of existence, it made for an impressive achievement. And the Blue Jays managed it after battling the vaunted New York Yankees all season, ultimately winning the AL East by just two games.

In fact, the season could have been even better. Toronto led 3-1 in the ALCS series against the Kansas City Royals, before losing three straight to the eventual World Series champions.

Regardless, it was still a special season for Toronto, who set a team record that stands to this day, with 99 wins. The moment they secured the division still brings back fond memories for Blue Jays fans everywhere.
