4) A rebounding machine

The 2016-17 season served as a platform to show how good Valanciunas could potentially be, when it came to snagging rebounds. In this respect, he set several personal career highs, as well as a franchise record.

It was in December, when the two-time FIBA Young Player of the Year really started to show his talent on the boards. He grabbed 10+ rebounds in nine of 14 games during December, including a streak of double rebounds in seven of eight contests.

In early January, Valanciunas set a new personal career high of 23 boards during a game against the Boston Celtics. This was made all the more sweeter, as he added 18 points and the Raptors won the game.

As the regular season headed towards its conclusion, Valanciunas set a franchise record in a win against the Pacers. Of the 17 boards he grabbed, 13 came in the third quarter, which were the most ever in a single quarter by a Raptors player.

The 111-100 home win over the Pacers also saw Valanciunas set a new career high for overall rebounds in a season. He finished the 2016-17 campaign with 759 boards — including a career-best 533 defensive rebounds — averaging out to 9.5 per contest.
