With the Toronto Raptors passing the midway point of their season, there are many storylines to follow with Leonard being the most important.

It is hard to not be satisfied with how the Toronto Raptors season has gone. They have the best winning percentage in the league and it’s safe to say the team hasn’t reached its full potential.

Only the Raptors and Milwaukee Bucks have won 30-plus games this season proving that the Eastern Conference has come a long way from past seasons where the Western Conference was deemed the more dominant side. Obviously, the postseason is what matters the most in the NBA, Toronto has seen that first hand.

While the regular season does mean something for the Raptors since this is a team with two key additions in Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green. While they have bought into what Nick Nurse is selling, injuries have limited the minutes this team has played as a five-man unit.

In their 140-138  double-overtime win over the Washington Wizards, the Raptors were reminded that they cannot sleep on teams. Sure the Wizards have struggled this season but they were coming into this game with wins over the Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks. The Raptors were also reminded how a star like Bradley Beal can flip a switch at any moment and make a winnable game a tough one.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season goes for the Raptors as they have managed to deal with the off-court distraction involving Leonard’s future as a non-issue. That won’t be the only storyline to follow in the second half of the season.
