For the second straight game, the Toronto Maple Leafs fail to get the offence going with a frustrating loss to the Dallas Stars.

It is still early in the Toronto Maple Leafs season but another loss at home where the team struggled to put the puck in the net is not something people would have expected.

After a 3-1 loss to the Calgary Flames, it was a better effort against the Dallas Stars but a similar result with the visiting team winning 2-1. Once again, the Leafs had their chances but it took until the third period before they got one in the net and for the second straight game, they couldn’t find the equalizer.

When the fans at Scotiabank Arena thought Patrick Marleau scored but it actually hit the post and it was a painful reminder of a similar moment with Zach Hyman against the Flames. It’s becoming increasingly frustrating that the Leafs haven’t been able to score in the early going and have to desperately find ways to get something going in the dying minutes.

Hopefully going on the road to face off against the Pittsburgh Penguins allows the Leafs to find their game and get over this offensive slump. Here are some observations from the game and the Leafs latest struggles.
