CHL and NCAA players

Ian Scott has been on a tear to start the season with the Prince Albert Raiders going 12-1 with a 1.54 GAA and a .945 sv%. He will represent the WHL in the Canada Russia Series and a standout performance could put him in the running to play at the World Juniors for Team Canada.

There was one player who got a lot of attention during training camp and it was Semyon Der-Arguchintsev, the Leafs third round (76th overall) pick in the 2018 draft.

It was interesting to see the young skilled forward stick around longer in training camp receive an entry-level deal at the end of training camp. Now the Peterborough Petes will have more eyes on them with SDA on the team as he has a goal, six assists and seven points in 13 games so far this season in the OHL.

Sean Durzi and Mac Hollowell could have been options on the blueline for the Marlies this season but both were eventually returned back to the OHL at the end of training camp.

In eight games, Durzi doesn’t seem to have missed a beat with 10 assists and if he continues to show improvements at both ends of the ice, he could join the Marlies at the end of his season. Hollowell is in the same boat but his lack of size made it an easier decision to send him back to the Greyhounds where has 12 points in 10 games.

In the NCAA Dakota Joshua and Joseph Woll continue to fly under the radar as they won’t factor into the Leafs plans until they decide to make the jump to pro hockey.

In four games with Ohio State University, Joshua has two goals and an assist which is a good start for him and something to keep an eye on down the road. Woll hasn’t seen the same success with losing all four of his starts this season while posting a 3.72 GAA and a .867 sv%, it’s still early for the young netminder but he also has stiff competition with Ryan Edquist looking to make some starts as well.
