Some reports suggest the Toronto Maple Leafs could become victims to an offer sheet from opposing teams but that probably won’t be the case for a couple of reasons.

When Kyle Dubas said the Toronto Maple Leafs would be able to fit Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and William Nylander into the long-term plan, it seemed to ease some of the concern the fanbase was having about the team’s salary cap.

Now with Nylander still unsigned, Matthews and Marner off to a great start to the season, some are skeptical about the possibility of the Leafs keeping the band together. If Nylander’s situation was resolved then this would not be a discussion, it also doesn’t help that Brendan Shanahan wants the young players to put team success over financial success.

Instead, we now have people wondering if the Leafs are in trouble of having opposing teams use offer sheets to make the team’s salary cap structure difficult to manage. There has been no mention of one coming for Nylander and unless a team has the cap space or assets to get it done then it’s unlikely to happen.

Here are more reasons why the Leafs shouldn’t worry about a potential offer sheet down the road.
