Toronto Raptors: 4 things we learned from media day
The Toronto Raptors had their first official media availability before training camp opens with all the attention on Kawhi Leonard.
It was a moment Toronto Raptors fans have waited a long time for and safe to say, they should be pleased with what was said but they also know that there are questions that still remain.
Some won’t be answered until the season starts and the big one involving Kawhi Leonard’s future probably won’t be solved until the offseason. Considering the fanbase hasn’t heard from their superstar acquisition and all the speculation about his desire to go to Los Angeles, the focus should be on the upcoming season rather than after that.
For now, it looks like all the players are healthy and ready to get to work which is all you can ask for at this time especially with Leonard missing most of last season.
One narrative that won’t go away anytime soon is the DeMar DeRozan trade mainly because DeRozan keeps talking about it and is using it as motivation for this season. Luckily, the Raptors won’t focus on it anymore and are more worried about getting over their postseason struggles.
A big change going into this season other than the addition of Leonard and Danny Green was the coaching change from Dwane Casey to Nick Nurse. Whether the team hits the ground running or this team has some growing pains remains to be seen. Luckily for him, he has a strong mix of veteran and young players ready to put in the work.
Here are some takeaways from the Raptors media day.
