Toronto Maple Leafs pre-season prospect rankings: 11-15
11. Joseph Woll
The Toronto Maple Leafs are in no rush to have Joseph Woll make his way up the team’s development system, considering the crowded crease they have in the AHL and beyond.
They have Frederik Andersen signed for another couple of seasons, which is why they can afford to be patient with the 2016 third round pick. In 30 games with Boston College, the 20-year-old had a 2.48 GAA and a .915 save percentage, which is an improvement on his rookie season.

He didn’t have a repeat of the success he had in his first world juniors with the U.S., but that team didn’t have the same talent level as the 2017 group. If he can put together a dominant season in college, there’s no reason why he can’t get strong consideration to be the Marlies’ starter when he makes the jump to professional hockey.
Woll has a good frame at 6-foot-4, 203 pounds, which is a common theme in the NHL today, and this allows him to rely on his technical skills rather than on instincts.
While he might be a couple of seasons away he should enjoy the time out of the spotlight, because when the moment comes for him to reach the NHL — which is where he can reach based on his skill set — then we’ll see if he can handle the pressure.
