19. Fedor Gordeev

It is hard to ignore Gordeev’s towering size at 6-foot-6, 212lbs and still manages to show strong skating ability for his size.

He has work to do in order to improve the offensive side of his game which tends to be an issue for bigger defencemen. As Corey Pronman of the Athletic writes, Gordeev has shown an ability to make plays especially on the defensive side of the game.

Unfortunately, playing for the Flint Firebirds isn’t going to help his case offensively as their leading scorer was Maurizio Colella had 61 points in 67 games. If Flint can find a way to improve as a unit, Gordeev could improve on his offensive numbers considering he puts up a lot of shots.

Now as it has been noted in the past, Gordeev was moved from forward to defence similar to what Jake Gardiner went through. It might take some time for him to try and be a more dynamic player at both ends as he definitely has the talent to do that.
