Kelvin Benjamin and Cam Newton have heated exchange

When Kelvin Benjamin was traded to the Bills back in October last season, it caught many off guard because the team was going to take a take a step back and build through the draft.

Instead, the team spent a third and seventh round pick to get the 27-year-old who was drafted in the first round (28th overall) of the 2014 draft. An ACL tear kept him off the field in his second season and had been trying to get back on track since then.

The Panthers decided they wanted to go in another direction and the Bills got some much-needed help in the receiving game.

Unfortunately, the receiver was not happy with how things ended in Carolina and he spoke about it ahead of their opening preseason game.

"“I mean, I felt like I would’ve been even more successful if … I don’t know, man … If I would’ve … Looking back on it, I should’ve just been drafted by somebody else,” Benjamin told The Athletic. “I should’ve never went to Carolina. Truly, I just think Carolina was bad for me. It was a bad fit from the get-go. “If you would’ve put me with any other quarterback, let’s be real, you know what I’m saying? Any other accurate quarterback like Rodgers or Eli Manning or Big Ben — anybody! — quarterbacks with knowledge, that know how to place a ball and give you a better chance to catch the ball. It just felt like I wasn’t in that position.”"

This prompted head coach Sean McDermott to call out his receiver for his remarks about his former team and teammate.

Like it usually does, the word travelled to Panthers camp with many players offering their support for Newtown saying that it was unfair for the quarterback to be thrown under the bus.

Apparently, Newton wasn’t ready to let the comments go as he approached Benjamin as both teams were warming up on the field.

Something tells me that this won’t be the last time we hear about this but at least Benjamin provided some highlights to give people something else to talk about.

Benjamin finished the game with four receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown. He was one of the more impressive receivers in the game showing his bug catch radius. Expect him to be the go-to target which should take some pressure of LeSean McCoy this season.
