As a result of DeMar DeRozan’s trade to the San Antonio Spurs, we count down the top five moments from his time with the Toronto Raptors.

They often say sport reflects society, but not always for the better. DeMar DeRozan learned this lesson the hard way on Wednesday, courtesy of the Toronto Raptors.

In recent weeks, the Raptors had apparently reassured DeRozan that he was safe and wouldn’t be getting traded anywhere. In the end though, it turned out they were being less than truthful.

Yes, the NBA is a business and there are plenty of times when professional athletes have put their own interests ahead of their team. Regardless, it’s a shame for DeRozan.

When you consider all the years (decades) of players effectively shunning Toronto, here was someone who willingly embraced the city as his second home. No matter how much money he’s made, it’s still okay to feel at least a little sorry for the 28-year-old, who was the very definition of loyal.

Unfortunately for everyone concerned, there’s nothing that can be done about the trade to the San Antonio Spurs. However, we can still pay homage to arguably the greatest player in franchise history, by counting down DeRozan’s top five moments from his time with the Toronto Raptors.
