4) A record-breaking level of excellence at the position

Fresh off winning the 100th Grey Cup, Ray was ready to continue his dominance in 2013. And, despite a shoulder injury which forced him to miss six games, he performed at a level never before witnessed in the CFL.

To say the 2005 Grey Cup MVP was phenomenal, would be an understatement. By the end of the 2013 campaign, he had set a whole host of CFL records:

  • Completion percentage: (77.23 %)
  • TD to INT ratio: (10.5 – 1)
  • Lowest INT percentage: (0.66 %)
  • Most pass attempts without an INT: (247)
  • Passer efficiency rating: (126.37)

Understandably, the Argonauts entered the playoffs as favourites to represent the East Division in the Grey Cup. Unfortunately for the Double Blue, fate had other ideas, as they lost 36-24 to the Tiger-Cats in the East Final.

However, while football is the ultimate team game, this shouldn’t take away from Ray’s individual accomplishments in 2013. He set a standard which you imagine will be tough to top.
