Chicago Cubs

This is an interesting team to be adding to the mix but after Bob Elliott tweeted that the 2016 World Series Champions are interested in Happ, it only makes for a better situation for the Blue Jays.

Not only does it put pressure on the other teams to try and offer a better deal but the Cubs are second in the NL Central and could use some help in the rotation. It has also been reported that the Milwaukee Brewers are going to be big players at the deadline so they could also be looking to trade for Happ.

The Cubs might be a casual buyer but aren’t in the market to make a major splash like adding a pitcher like Fuller or deGrom. Chicago’s starting pitching hasn’t been as dependable with Tyler Chatwood and Jose Quintana struggling recently.

A problem that the Blue Jays are going to encounter is that the Cubs have offloaded a lot of their prospect capital to get to the World Series two seasons ago so they won’t be able to offer more than what the Yankees can.
