2) Social Media Numbers Increase

When evaluating the overall success of a club, it’s best to look at everything from top to bottom. This includes the class of the pitch, the dedication of management, the brilliance of the players and yes, the numbers on social media.

There’s absolutely no doubt that social media has a big part in sports today. Team accounts with big numbers usually reflect the success of the squad on the pitch.

TFC’s numbers on Facebook and Twitter have witnessed a huge increase over the past year. Twitter has taken the most noticeable jump, with about 325,000 people following this time last season. The number now stands at 402,000.

Of course, this is all due to the recent success in MLS, the Champions League and the Canadian Championship. But that’s exactly what the Reds deserve.

Steps to becoming a big club have to be taken all over the place, both on and off the pitch. Real Madird or even Manchester United aren’t big if they don’t have billions of people following and supporting them.

TFC’s popularity has now become more global, which is exactly why the Champions League was so important. More people not only know the name of the Reds, but they’ve experienced the improvement of quality coming out of MLS.
