2. Raptors’ Lucky 3’s

Whoever said luck doesn’t exist, hasn’t seen the Toronto Raptors shoot 3-pointers. Check out this shot from Serge Ibaka:

The Raptors shot a respectable 38.9 percent (7 of 18) from deep in Game 4 with lady luck smiling down on them. It’s extremely rare to see the ball pop off the rim and nestle inside the basket like this unless you’re playing 2K, so seeing it multiple times in real life is astonishing.

Just to put into perspective how fine the line is between a good shooting night from deep and a bad shooting night from deep, let’s say the Raptors don’t get the lucky bounce from those three shots.

The Raps end up shooting 4 of 18 instead; that’s 22.2 percent, which is absolutely atrocious. It’s a make or miss league and lucky shots count just as much rimless swishes.
