4) Wins 2010 Walter Payton Man of the Year award
It’s always impressive when an athlete achieves anything on the field of play. However, it’s away from the field where you really find out the measure of a person.
Everyone associated with the Buffalo Bills franchise already knew Jackson was a man of high character; a leader who everyone else respected. As such, it came as no surprise when he was named the Buffalo Bills’ Walter Payton Man of the Year, in 2010.
The award was thoroughly deserved for a man who showed outstanding balance in his life between civic and professional responsibilities. As per Buffalobills.com, Jackson had been among the team’s most active participants in the community, ever since first arriving in Western New York during 2006.
The list of programs the sociology graduate participated in, was as extensive as it was impressive. One of the more prominent ones was his position as a spokesperson for the Bills “Billieve” breast cancer awareness campaign.
Jackson was presented with the award again in 2014, joining Ruben Brown, London Fletcher and Eric Wood as the only multiple-time winners for the Bills. Brown leads the way, with three overall awards.
