Buffalo Bills: Top 5 highlights from Fred Jackson’s career
By Paul Taylor
As Fred Jackson prepares to officially retire from the NFL, we look back at some of the best moments from his time as a member of the Buffalo Bills.
Fred Jackson is coming home. One of the most popular players in team history, is set to re-sign with the Buffalo Bills.
However, before anyone gets too excited, we should probably offer some clarity. As reported by Sal Cappacio of WGR 550, Jackson is only going to sign a one-day contract, so he can retire as a member of the organization.
This seems like a fitting conclusion to a career which surpassed all expectations. Undrafted out of Coe College, the running back was perceived by many as too small to succeed in the NFL.
However, after playing indoor football and in Europe, Jackson finally got his chance in Buffalo. He was invited to training camp by the legendary Mar Levy (who also attended Coe College) in 2006 and saw his first NFL action the following year.
The rest was history, as Jackson went on to become one of just two players to surpass 5,000 yards rushing and 2,500 yards receiving with the Bills. (The other, was a certain Thurman Thomas.) As he prepares to retire, lets look back on some of the highlights from his career in Western New York.
