Defence. player. 121. Rasmus Dahlin. 1. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Frölunda HC (SHL)

It’s been a tough couple of seasons for Arizona. But they finally strike gold in the draft lottery and are able to get the best defensive prospect in the draft in a long time.

Dahlin has dominated hockey over in Sweden and will immediately make an impact for the Yotes, who will have another Swede to play with the likes of Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Niklas Hjalmarsson next season.

Right Wing. 2. player. Andrei Svechnikov. 152. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Barrie Colts (OHL)

Keeping a point a game pace over the course of a season is a difficult task for most hockey players. But for Svechnikov, he not only did it with Barrie; he averaged nearly a goal per game in the OHL this season.

With the climate of the NHL, there is now usually a consensus two or three prospects in the first round, so the second overall pick becomes the easiest pick to make.

Montreal misses out on the ultimate prize in Dahlin; however, they get an extremely talented consolation prize that could turn into the cornerstone of their franchise in Svechnikov. The Russian has all the pieces to be a star in the NHL.
