Faller: Jared McIsaac, Defence, Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL)

If I talk about one, I might as well cover the other. Yes, McIsaac has fallen down the rankings slightly from the start of the season. However, the team that gets him in the draft will not be getting a consolation prize, but rather a solid defensive prospect who has a bright future ahead of him.

The drop in the rankings has nothing to do with his stats or a drop in quality in his play. The other defensive prospects have forced scouts to push him down to make room for them.

McIsaac has eight goals and 35 assists for 43 point in 62 games with the Halifax Mooseheads this season. While the headlines of the team have been dominated by projected top-five pick Filip Zadina and his strong play, McIsaac has been a staple on their blueline.

He’s the ideal size for today’s NHL defender, at 6 foot 1, 194 lbs. McIsaac has a bullet of a shot and plays both ends of the ice well.

"Big, strong and capable at both ends of the ice. A safe top four future. – Cam Robinson, Dobber Prospects"

Down the stretch of the season, McIsaac will likely hover around the top 10 and the back half of the lottery. He’ll have more opportunities to impress scouts, as Halifax looks poised to make another deep run in the QMJHL playoffs.
