The 2018 Winter Olympics Games in South Korea are just around the corner, with the Buffalo Sabres organization well represented.

For fans of the Buffalo Sabres it should be exciting to hear that 10 former and current members of the organization will be represented at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in South Korea.

At the same time, however, the competition of hockey itself may not be that thrilling. This came as a result of NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman denying players within the league the opportunity to represent in the winter games.

The decision from Bettman came with a bit of resistance, most notably from Alex Ovechkin who said he’ll play for Russia regardless of the decision made by the NHL. Fines and potential suspensions meant Ovechkin eventually had to pull away from his dream.

Now it’s up to prospects, members of the AHL and even retired players to go entertain in Pyeongchang from February 10.

Maybe the games will be more entertaining this time around. Team Canada isn’t equipped with as much firepower as usual, and teams seem to be on a more level playing field.

Of course, the Olympics has given some unusual players a chance to represent in the games. As mentioned before, 10 former or current members of the Sabres will play for the Gold Medal. Let’s find out who they are.
