BUFFALO, NY – JANUARY 4: Filip Zadina /

Other Prospects

Filip Zadina – LW

Zadina is a really intriguing prospect. Arguably, he puts up a good case for being the best skater in the draft class. The Czech is very agile and can turns the gears very quickly both on and off the puck.

The 18-year-old is killing it in the QMJHL with Halifax right now. Zadina has 27 goals and 26 assists in just 39 games, which is absolutely insane.

Zadina is worth the look, especially if Buffalo drop as a result of the lottery. Here’s what Curtis Joe had to say on the winger:

"Filip Zadina is a dynamic offensive forward that plays a complete game. A deft and agile skater, he exhibits explosive mobility both up and down the ice. In all three zones, he proactively looks to create problems for the opposition. His awareness is indicative of his high level of hockey sense, and he knows how to make plays and scoring chances materialize. Has a goal scorer’s toolbox, complete with the individual puck skills that one comes to expect from today’s elite offensive players."

Adam Boqvist – RHD

Boqvist might be the jackpot for the Sabres. The 17-year-old is a right-shot defenseman which allows more creativity for a team with a heavy left-shot presence. Plus, the offensive defenseman would play perfectly into Housley’s defensive structure, with 21 points in 22 games.

Once heading past the number one and two spots, it might be more realistic to think the rest of the players are going to need more time to develop. However, Boqvist might be the perfect player to wait on for the benefit of the future.
