It was a impressive 2017 from the Toronto Maple Leafs and 2018 should expect more of that with important decisions to be made.

The Toronto Maple Leafs took a big step forward in 2017 and with expectations increasing this season, the team has been able to handle it sitting third in the Atlantic Division.

Auston Matthews has taken the team on his back scoring at a point-per-game rate despite a couple of injuries this season. Frederik Andersen has proven to be equally as important to the Leafs’ success this season with 20 wins so far.

The bright spot for the team in 2017 had to be their playoff appearance and while they were bounced in the first round, many teams around the league see this young Leafs team on the rise.

The team has shown that they want to do more than make the playoffs adding experienced players like Ron Hainsey and Patrick Marleau in the offseason.

Obviously the Leafs will continue look at ways to improve ahead of the trade deadline with defence being a priority. Whether they decide to move their first round pick will be something to watch for.

Here are some predictions for what the Leafs will accomplish this year.
