The 19-year old American is the only returning Leafs prospect from last year’s tournament. He only played in two games and had a 1.50 GAA and a .935 save percentage.

This year the Boston College starter has gone through a tough stretch with a 2.90 GAA and a .898 save percentage.  However, he was invited back to the US selection camp and is expected to compete for the starter’s job.

“We’ve seen quite a bit of him,” said Lamoriello. “He plays for a great program and is one of their top players. He has a bright future.”

Tyler Parsons won the starting job last year and took the U.S. all the way to the gold medal game which they would win in a shootout over Canada.

Expect a tough competition with Jake Oettinger who was a first round pick of the Dallas Stars in the 2017 draft. Oettinger plays for Boston University where he has a 1.91 GAA and a .902 save percentage.
