Sheldon Keefe hasn’t known anything other than playoffs since being named the Toronto Marlies head coach. In his three years with the Baby Buds has accumulated a 96-45-9-2 record over his time in the AHL.

But, as good of a coach as Keefe is, it all comes down to the execution of the roster and how they carry out his gameplan.

In that regard, the Marlies have done an exceptional job, starting the season with 16 wins through the teams first 20 games of the AHL campaign. The latest win against the Belleville Senators helped the Marlies catapult the Manitoba Moose to take over top spot atop the AHL standings.

The Marlies started the season without top contributor Brendan Leipsic, who was selected by Vegas in the Expansion Draft, and former captain Andrew Campbell, who signed with Arizona in the summer.
