OCEANIA

I don’t pretend to understand what this continent is, but what I do know is that Australia is the only baseball country in it.

In Blue Jays history there have been three Australians, one player from Guam and one player from American Samoa.

Of these five, Liam Hendriks was the only one to play more than a season in Toronto, going 6-0 with a 3.49 ERA and 79 strikeouts in 78 innings pitched.

The native of Perth, Australia came to Toronto in 2014, but it wasn’t until he was moved to the pen in 2015 that he really established himself.

But after Hendriks’ first full season in Toronto, he was traded to Oakland for starter Jesse Chavez.

Graeme Lloyd, who is a member of the Baseball Australia Hall of Fame, is the most well known Australian in Blue Jays history, but his one season in Toronto (5-3, 3.63 ERA) wasn’t quite as good as Hendriks.
