Tornto Maple Leafs exorcise demons in overtime victory over Devils

Like with Mitch Marner before his goal in Boston last Saturday, you could just feel that William Nylander would bust out of his slump.
Nylander was flying all over the ice and had a bevvy of chances with the puck in this game. He picked the best time to break out, scoring on a wrist shot from the slot to beat Devils goaltender Cory Schneider with two seconds on the clock in the extra frame:
Nylander had another chance just before that, where he attempted a spinning behind the back pass to a player that wasn’t there to receive it. Evidently, the player had gone for a change in the process.
After the game, Leafs’ Head Coach Mike Babcock said the drought had been weighing heavy on Nylander.
This stretch had to have been extra difficult on Nylander. Without his linemate for four games and being forced into his role with more responsibility, was a tough task.
It’s safe to say he was up to the task and took the opportunity and ran with it in this game. The Toronto Maple Leafs needed a hero in the game, and Nylander played the role.
